ASI Launches Campaign to Invite President Obama to CSU Dominguez Hills
It’s an amazing notion when you hear it for the first time – President Barack Obama at California State University, Dominguez Hills. When I tell people I am on an Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) committee that is determined to bring him to our 2010 commencement ceremony, I usually get a “Really?” often followed up by a “Here?”
Yes, there is a campaign to get President Obama to deliver the keynote address at commencement on May 21, 2010. And you know what? We deserve it. Read more…
Karen Mason: Psychology Professor Awarded NIH Grant for Groundbreaking Research on African-Americans and HIV/AIDS
Karen Mason, associate professor of psychology at California State University, Dominguez Hills, has been awarded a three-year grant of $426,000 by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund her research on ethnic disparities in the psychosocial and neurocognitive predictors of health. The grant is supported by NIH programs for minority research, including the Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS)/Support for Continuous Research Excellence (SCORE) programs administered by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). Latino Heritage Month: Chicana Author Helen Viramontes Speaks at CSU Dominguez Hills
In celebration of Latino Heritage Month, California State University, Dominguez Hills students were treated to a lecture by author Helena María Viramontes on Sept. 13. Lauded for her depiction of Chicano culture, the graduate of University of California, Irvine’s Master of Fine Arts program and professor of English at Cornell University presented her latest book, “Their Dogs Came With Them.” Read more…
