This song really reminds me of Hail Mary by Tupac and it does it without trying too hard. TI has had run-ins with the law and is going through tough times just like Pac did. This song is about how the media can crucify people, figuratively and literally.

Bible references throughout the song. “Jesus’ youngest disciple” was John the Apostle. John wrote the Book of Revelations Listen as TI makes his own revelations…

“Started calling myself the king//For lack of a better title” TI is apologizing to Jesus for blasphemy, naming himself King. Jesus is aka the King of Kings

“Trapped in a vicious cycle” Most of the first verse is TI revealing the vicious cycle of a poor educational system that leaves kids resorting to crime to feed themselves and their families. “Meanwhile selling powder puts food in the bellies”TI began selling drugs by age 14. “Sorta just doomed, forced into being a goon, selling kush in a jar ”

My mama loved me more than I do
She said your pop was just like you
Trapped in a vicious cycle
Jesus’ youngest disciple
Tell the judge if he throw the book at me
Make it the Bible
Started calling myself the king
For lack of a better title

Loyal beyond belief to my detriment
It’s so vital I change or blow opportunities
Like a choir recital
Now while I’ll not care who tell it
Meanwhile selling powder puts food in the bellies
Well it’s unfortunate
The orphanage couldn’t keep up the mortgages
Kid go to school stupid their teachers ignoring it

Sorta just doomed,
forced into being a goon,
selling kush in a jar
Mixing up (guitar) in a balloon
Consumed with the same way of life I left
Everything I know now learned by myself
All you see is the wealth
The Maseratis Ferraris
So they don’t sympathize
Don’t nobody feel sorry
No mercy

“Everybody’s standing and waiting, chantin and they’re hatin”
Gospels say they should forgive me
They’d rather hand me to satan”

Throughout the second part of the song TI talks about how people enjoy and profit off of his crash and burn

“Could it be possibly the second coming of Pac is me?” Tupac is a god in hip hop. As (we?) await the second coming of Jesus, TI says (like he’s said in previous songs) that he is the closest to Tupac. That is hard to deny.

“Fuck up the world like Lady Di”
meaning the world would be sad if/when he dies. Princess Dianna was hounded by the media throughout her life and a car crash caused by paparazzi is what killed her.

“Hindsight 20/20//Future not as clear”. TI raps in third person like he is reading his own obituary. “His wife and sons and daughters know that every day he tried”.

Everybody’s standing and waiting, chantin, and hatin
Gospels say they should forgive me
They’d rather hand me to satan
Blatant displays today of hypocrisy
Boy you got to be kidding
Could it be possibly the second coming of Pac is me?

Remember That
When he was here
And when he died you realized you need him here
God with me partner
Ain’t no one for me to fear
Hindsight 20/20
Future not as clear
But I’m a rider till i die
Put bullets ‘tween my eye
I just ask that I can make my peace with god and say goodbye

Fuck up the world like Lady Di
On the day he died
His wife and sons and daughters know that every day he tried
To be a better person, all they wanted better verses
They could market to the merchants
But when they closed curtains
You could be for certain ain’t nobody perfect
But when you’re rich nobody gives a shit
No Mercy

The [Chorus] is

No Mercy
There’s no mercy on me
No crying myself to sleep
No mercy on me
Nightmares have become my dreams
No mercy on me
Good morning reality
Will I wake?
We’ll never know
I’m late for my date
with destiny
Let me go
Let me go
You gotta to let me go
Right or wrong
Let me go
I’m on my path
Let me go
